This was as painful as he had expected it to be, to be honest. The young man, possibly one of the youngest on the ship, had few people to rely on here. It was a sore tragedy that came with arriving later than most. What didn't help was his at times prickly personality.

Yuri's intentions were straight forward. His desire to be here was fueled exclusively by his family and with that fire lit it would be difficult to put it out. Perhaps it was a bit of competitiveness that resulted in him pushing so hard to please the scientists working here.

There was a purpose for his presence and that purpose was to carry children. So Yuri was carrying children. Pain was expected, as he was small. Petite in stature and narrow of frame. Adding the weight of a baby -- something his body shouldn't be able to carry -- would certainly only strain him.

To have it grow this fast seemed completely out of the question. It felt as if his insides were being hurriedly readjusted. Yuri chose to simply sit where it began, in the hallway with his hands clamped over his abdomen as he feels the growth.

Yuri always joked about finding children to be parasitic but this was taking that joke to extreme realities.

Discrimination wasn't something a blonde haired, green eyed Russian was used to. The periodic 'mistaken for a girl until he opened his mouth' thing happened but not that general feeling of people not wanting him around before he could do so. Yuri only recognized it as happening after his stomach was starting to show.

These bastards saw anyone with an empty belly as something to be difficult with. Since that seemed to be the case Yuri may have been responding in kind now that his internal hatchery was growing something.

His snappy retorts and difficult nature didn't seem to bother shop keepers, who were used to irritable and demanding pregnant patrons already. Yuri contemplated dialing it up a thousand notches but it wouldn't do to get himself in trouble. Or overly noticed for that matter.

Flying beneath the radar was a small thing he was attempting. At least until he had his bearings under him. Truth be told, he was task-focused and had no wish to interrupt the process with pointless chatter. Yuri was a soldier-eyed worker and this was the thing he was expected to work on.

Perfectionism had little ability to affect this process. Only to affect the young man's attitude towards it. The attitude had generally been sour as he seemed to be fairing worse than some of the others. Perhaps it was due to his slim frame...

And that same attitude made him irritable towards the person staring at him. Or persons? He wasn't sure, as he had decidedly buried his attention into the book he was thinking of purchasing. He had so little that he kept for himself as it was. Would this be a luxury item of worth?

'What to expect when you're expecting'. The irony that he wasn't supposed to be expecting at all wasn't lost on him.
